few words and pics

To me, horse is a guide to my inner self, always showing the truth of who I am.

I'm not saying I am always able to look in to that mirror, but I am fully aware of it's existence.

I am working (too?) hard on trying to convince Olga that there can be equilibrium in our friendship. I still have a lot of learning to do.

She is 'there' (meaning here and now) already, I am still working on it.

To me, friendship with Olga means that she has equal saying in everything. Her 'no' is respected whenever possible. I am trying to learn not to have any expectations or timetables, just to enjoy little moments, like when she asks for scratching or decides to take a nap near me.

I have already learned so much, but this is a life-long journey.

  4. Hi, Jenny -
You're right! She does look like Chloe. And Chloe does that same thing - she likes to take a little nap beside me. And she likes it when I crouch down or sit down next to her.
Chloe has been probably the most challenging horse I've ever worked with, but she has never done anything mean or threatening - even when she has become very angry and frustrated.

  6. What was Olga's history before she came to you?

  7. June: Olga was born in Iceland, and brought to Finland when she was 4 years old. She spend 14 years with this one family that is breeding icelandics, she had (only) 3 foals. Then she moved to another place where she did not have foals, so she sold her to me.

I think she hasn't been ridden very much before moving at the age of 18, then she has been ridden at least few times per week. She was a bit withdrawn when she came, but she learned quickly that her opinions do matter. So now she really expresses herself <3

She is still a bit pushy in certain situations, but I think she will soften, when I learn to be softer and present with her.

When we hang out in the pasture, and I am sitting on the ground, she often wants to position me so that I am under her neck, a bit like how a foal would be, between her chest and head <3

  8. How did she interact with people in her previous homes?

Chloe is currently barely speaking to me. Is it because of the new filly I wonder?

Did you pick a Latin title for your blog because, as I hear, the Finns love Latin??! I love Latin too.

  9. I have no idea how she was in her last homes, but from the emails I've received from both earlier owners, I am guessing she was "nice and easy"...

I don't know about Finns in general, but I love Latin :)

  10. And I think Chloe and Olga are the same age, too. Chloe is back speaking to me, and she and the filly are now bff.
